Valentine Roofing - Horrible After-Sale Service

Not resolved

They got the work done quickly but unfortunately that is where the positive ends.

The company extended the shingle line on my rental property. After the first rain, large amounts of water came sheeting down behind the gutter and entered a bonus room, drenching the carpet. Clearly this was an issue with the roof job, as there was no mention of anything changing or gutters needing to be adjusted.

My management company called Valentine who denied any responsibility, saying they didn't change anything. Naturally, it doesn't take a high school graduate to realize if a problem didn't exist before someone did work on a roof, but existed afterward, it was the completed work that caused the problem. But no, not with Valentine. They took no responsibility.

So, instead, I had to hire an outside contractor, paying hundreds more, to fix gutters that needed adjustment based on Valentine's poor work which they denied. And not as funny then as it is now, the contractor who came out for the gutters said, "Oh, looks like the people who did your roof changed the shingle line." Unless, of course, you ask Valentine. They apparently didn't do anything... except lose a customer for life.

I sure hope your name isn't Nathan.

As I am a tenant in a rental home, and a new roof was put on. The owner turned down recommendations to replace a metal roof, gutters and trim boards.

Those were included in the bid by Valentine Roofing. I was present for the bidding process and installation.

The first rain after install... rain leaked behind the gutter on the bonus room...

this gutter line happens to under the metal breezeway roof. The metal roof impeded the ability of the roofing crew to adequately install shingles.

In this case the fault was on the owner for ignoring professional and educated recommendations.

I am a College educated Union Carpenter.
